Week 17

This week, we watched the dissection of the digestive system of both the pig and the sheep. Most people found this very disgusting as there was partially dissected food at different stages of breakdown throughout the stomachs and intestines. It smelt bad but I didn’t mind too much. It was so weird to see how the intestines and different sections had been curled up into such a tight space.

We looked at 2 different animals as they had 2 different types of digestive system. The pig has a monogastric digestive system and the sheep has a ruminant one.

It was weird to see the inside of the sheep’s stomach as the linings of the different sections of the stomach felt weird and had different patterns.

I also watched a gall bladder being burst and I didn’t realise how much bile would be in there. It was bright yellow.
